Using subtraction is something you never do with a tape. However, with a DISTO, subtraction is easy and makes measuring fast!

Let’s say that you’re measuring the side of a house and the wall doesn’t have targets between you and the end or at the end. 

What about beyond the end of the wall? 

Looking into the backyard, we see a fence. That will make a great target!

Here’s how you do it:

Step 1:
Standing at the end of the wall furthest from the fence, aim the laser at the fence, take the measurement, and press the subtraction button.

Step 2:
Walk to the other end of the wall, aim the laser at the fence, take the measurement, and press the equal button. 

Step 3:
The measurement on the screen is the length of the wall. Wasn’t that easy? Best of all, it was fast!
